  2. Turn in your Technology Survey about the school

Assignment 3

Find out the Acceptable Use Policy that directly affects the students/ teacher with whom you are working. Post the following information on the class listserv. Be sure to tell the name of the school and the district with which you are working.
(It is very important that you understand your school's policies on how children may use technology and the Internet.)

Include the following information regarding your school’s AUP.
 

  •  Is there an Acceptable Use Policy for the whole district or does each school have its own?
  • Are parents required to sign it on their child’s behalf? What happens to students whose parents won’t or don’t sign it?
  • Is there a separate AUP for faculty? Are faculty required to sign one?
  • If there’s an AUP posted on the Internet, what is the URL?
  • How long has it been since the AUP was updated?

  • In addition to posting the above information to the listserve, obtain a paper copy of the AUP to bring to the second class meeting.

    Assignment 4

    Write a plan of action after you meet with your teacher to determine how you can most effectively help him/her.

    Include:

    Introduction to the unit

    Content Area and Grade Level

    The Task (or goals and objectives)

    The Process (how you will teach the unit/lesson,etc.)

    Curriculum Standards met (national and state level)

    Resources Needed

    Entry Level Skills and Knowledge

    Evaluation/Rubric

    If it is a technology integrated lesson you will be teaching, you will be graded on the sample rubric in the Handbook.

    If you are building a webpage, you will be graded on a web design rubric.

    Include how you will evaluate the project. Develop a rubric that will be used as a part of the evaluation.

    Read the ISTE student standards and the Technology Applications TEKS to find out how your plan meets those standards. List both the ISTE and TA-TEKS as well as any other subject area TEKS that are included in your plan. (See the example provided in the Handbook on Texas Dinosaurs)

    Assignment 5

    Arrange two meetings with your cooperating teacher and the CECS 4800 instructor or team teacher to meet at your school to evaluate your plan in action.

    It can be when you are teaching a lesson to the students, working with them on a project, meeting with the cooperating teacher on her website for a show and tell, etc. It will depend on your individual plan.

    The first meeting should be arranged no later than the week of March 26th and the second one should be no later than April 23rd.
