The Unit Portfolio is the essence of this course. The components of the course work towards building
a topic-specific unit in which technology is integrated throughout. Assignment 1 is the first review to
be turned in to make sure everyone is on target. Although many of the pieces will not be complete, each
of the components should have been addressed and in progress. The Unit Portfolio will include the following
components:

  Title
  Essential Questions (overarching question)
  Unit Questions
  Unit Summary
  Subject Area(s)
  Grade Level(s)
  Student Objectives/Learning Outcomes
  State  (TEKS) and National Standards (ISTE)
  Procedures
  Time Requirements
  Prerequisite Skills
  Materials and Resources Required for Unit
  Accommodations for Differentiated Instruction
  Student Assessment

 Include all framework components (use Teach to the Future Module 1 for guide):

Due: Feb. 19/20, 2002, beginning of class

Turn in: a copy of the Unit Portfolio with the blanks filled in (word processed from the forms) along with
print-outs of any additional materials that have been developed to support it.

Assignment 2 is a PowerPoint presentation introducing your unit (use Teach to the Future Module 2 for tutorial).
 Components should include:
  Title slide with title, author, course
  Overview slide with content area, grade level, duration, activity
  Slide summarizing essential question and relevant unit question(s)
  Slide with objectives and anticipated learning outcomes
  Brief evaluation plan
  Other information deemed relevant from categories in Assignment 1

Due: March 5/6, 2002 at the beginning of class
Turn in: a print-out of your PowerPoint presentation (6 slides to a page). Be prepared to share your presentation
with other classmates.

Student sample (what you would expect your K-12 students to produce) of a newsletter or brochure
( see TTF Module 4 for more details or tutorial). This assignment should meet the following criteria:

      Newsletter should be age appropriate for the grade you are targeting (use 2 or 3 column format)
      Brochure of 4-6 panels
      Content should be in the theme of your unit plan
      Must be produced in MS-Publisher
       Alter one of the sample rubrics or checklists to use for evaluation of your student's work

Due: March 12/13, 2002 at the beginning of class.
Turn in: a print-out of your newsletter or brochure and the evaluation rubric or checklist 

Assignment 4 Website (similar to TTF Module 6)
 Should include at least:
  3 links to other quality resources for your unit
  3 pages with information/content
  1 page with references/credits
  1 photograph of self and another graphic image

Due: March 26/27, 2002 at the beginning of class
Turn in: a print-out of each page of your website, a diskette with ONLY the files necessary for your web page 

Assignment 5 is the updated and completed Unit Portfolio from Assignment 1.

    Copy of the PowerPoint presentation of your unit (A2)
    Student samples (A3)
    Copy of your website (printed out - A4)
    Works Cited Page

Be prepared to present your Portfolio to the class. You will actively participate in the assessment of
your peers' portfolios and presentations.

Due: April 23/24, 2002 at the beginning of class.
Turn in: A copy of the Portfolio in some type of organized binder.

Include the following components:

Turn in:
(1) Design document
(2) Project printed out (each page) including a cover sheet.
      On the cover sheet include your name, project title, intended audience, and a brief description of the project
      and  its use in the classroom. Staple all pages in the upper left corner.
(3) Copy your project onto the instructor's jazz drive or J: drive on the teaching station.
(4) Show your project to the class.
