Judith G Enriquez received her Ph.D. in educational technology from the University of Aberdeen in 2007, and joined UNT's Department of Learning Technologies in the fall of 2008. Prior to joining UNT, she was involved in a 6th European Framework project called LEAD (www.lead2learning.org) based at the Learning Science Research Institute, University of Nottingham, UK. The LEAD project was about computer-mediated communication during face-to-face discussions within the existing school setting.  She was also involved in a government-funded project (Surestart) on literacy development using stories and songs with young children at the School of Education, University of Leicester, UK. Before coming to the UK, she was teaching in Malaysia.

Dr. Enriquez' primary research interests are at the intersections of literacy, communication, new innovation and technologies and education. In shaping her scholarship, she has always been driven by the intermingling of disciplines, wanting her work to be considered interdisciplinary as her own theorizing and methodologies in both her teaching and research practices are influenced by science and technology studies (STS), actor-network theory approaches, media and organization science, sociology, visual anthropology and linguistics.

Her dissertation on innovation and education was less concerned with the ways technology enhances teaching and learning. Instead, it explored the ways in which technology ‘brings to order’ teaching and learning practices between and within sites and situations, wherein mobilities between physical and virtual places are made possible by communication and information technologies.

In her current research project (what she considers a ‘grounding’), she extends her PhD work into literacies that coordinate the study practices of students given the new orderings that technologies bring into play in educational institutions.
