NET BROWSING (ASSIGNMENT #1)

This assignment involved locating five different sites using Gopher, Lynx,

and Netscape Navigator browsers. I selected Infoseek and Alta Vista search

engines.

The Web search engines allowed me to access a large amount of information.

The engines were very easy to use. I tried several times to accessGopher and was

never successful.I then went into UseNet through Classroom Connect(Deja News.

I searched for "origami" and was only able to access news-groups. The only sites

I found were responses to questions previously sent. The Web search engine I prefer

is Infoseek. I looked up "math projects" and was able to accesss 700,000+ pages.

It shows ten sites and then allows the viewer to select other sites in multiples of ten.

It was easier to read descriptions in Infoseek than Alta Vista. Both engines include page

size, url, and when last modified.
