You are required to complete the following tasks during the scope of this course.
Required assignments:

A1: Student Sample Newsletter or Brochure
Student sample (what you would expect your K-12 students to produce) of a newsletter or brochure
( see TTF Module 4 for more details or tutorial). This assignment should meet the following criteria:

    Newsletter should be age appropriate for the grade you are targeting (use 2 or 3 column format)
      Brochure of 4-6 panels (on 8.5x11 sized paper)
      Content should be in the theme of your unit plan
            Alter one of the sample rubrics or checklists (or create your own from scratch) to use for evaluation of your student's work
       Include your citation for any information or graphics that are not original from you. These should be somewhere on the
       newsletter or brochure.


Turn in: a print-out of your newsletter or brochure and the evaluation rubric or checklist

Selection and Evaluation of Additional Resources for Unit

Resource1: Find a WebQuest that could be used to support your unit.  Refer to the six critical attributes of a webquest to ensure that the webquest adequately addresses each of the critical components.  Fill out an Activity Page for your unit plan describing how you would use this WebQuest in your unit.

Resource 2: Find an academic software (instructional software )package (not productivity) that would benefit your unit.  Evaluate it using the evaluation rubric from the textbook publisher (Table 6.4 in the textbook).  Fill out an Activity PAge for your unit plan describing how you would use this software in your unit.  If the software you evaluated turned out to be poor quality, you may select a different software package to use for your activity page.  You do not have to do your own evaluation of the new package, just attach a review or description of it that you found on the web.

  Resource 3:  Find a  productivity software package OR a reference software package that could be used to benefit your unit.  Evaluate it using the appropriate evaluation rubric ( Table 5.7 in the textbook for productivity software)  Fill out an Activity Page for your unit plan describing how you would use this software in your unit.

Turn in:
1. Activity page for your unit using the WebQuest you found (2)
2. Instructional software evaluation (2)
3. Activity page for using an instructional software package in your unit (2)
4. Productivity or reference software evaluation (2)
5. Activity page for using a productivity or a reference software in your unit (2)


A3: Multimedia Activity
Create a multimedia presentation that can be utilized in an educational setting. Choose an appropriate topic and design an effective presentation. The presentation maybe used as a teaching tool (presentation of information), or a  tutorial (students use as a stand alone).  

The presentation will be graded on the components of an effective multimedia presentation. You will be required to turn in the following items:
  • Storyboard
  • Brief description of how this presentation will be used in a classroom setting, possible benefits, etc.
  • Printed out slides (several to a page)
  • Presentation (disk, or other electronic format)

A4: Curricular Resources 

You will use Filamentality to create and organize a student web page that students will be able to access online.  The purpose of this website is to provide information and activities for students on your unit of study. 

Using criteria discussed in class, choose a topic and find 5 web resources (URLs).  Find at least two websites with Internet project (or activities), and at least one informational web site. The additional two web resources may be any of those two types of resources.
 
Turn in:  URL for the Filamentality website (or page saved to a disk) and a printed copy of the webpage


A5: Final Unit Portfolio

Assignment 5 is the updated and completed Unit Portfolio.

Be prepared to present your Portfolio to the class. You will actively participate in the assessment of
your peers' portfolios and presentations.

 
Turn in: A copy of the Portfolio in some type of organized binder or folder.

 A6: Unit Web page
You are to create a website related to your unit topic. Your website should include at least:
  3 links to other quality websites to support your unit
  1 link to your Unit Plan (Your unit plan will not be complete but you should link to the most current version.)
  1 page with references/credits
  1  graphic image

Turn in: a print-out of each page of your website (only the pages you created). It will be ftpd to the courseweb server
so we can view it from our class webpage. You will be given more specific directions on the format in which you will
turn in the electronic version.
